Montmartre, 1950

Pour moi, c'est la plus belle photo du monde. Je ne sais pas qui est l'auteur.

  • I could not find who is credited with this fabulous photo. It's a well known place in Paris, I remember it well it's called les escalier de Montmartre, they end close to Place de Tertres and artists like Brassai and Rene Jacques took other famous photos on these stairs.

While looking for an answer to your query I fell upon another treasure of old photos of Paris belonging to Galleries Verdeay - http://www.verdeau.com/verdeaunew/sous_cat2.php?cat=Paris . I am making a note to visit the galleries next time when I will be in Paris.

  • Thank you so much for your comment, and for the web link there. You made my day with it!

Beside Brassai and Rene-Jacques, it's also Teo Tarras who made a photo of these escaliers. And many others, for sure, but I found only these three so far (plus the photo with the unknown author).

    Thanks again
